Here’s who to trust when it comes to SEO:
1) Trust SEOs Who Share Their Analytics
BUT! Only if they show you the time frame and DON'T PURPOSEFULLY CUT THE DATES OFF AT THE TOP. 🙄
Because this screenshot looks REAL impressive until you realize these numbers are for the entire YEAR— not a week, month, or quarter.
2) They Show Continuous Growth
It’s true that it can take 3-6 months for a single blog or website page to start ranking.
A confident SEO strategist will show you how long it took for their clients to see results.
For example, my
Client A jumped from 164 monthly visits to 1K in 4 months!
Client B has increased traffic by about 250 visits per month over the last 3 months.
(See how I included DATES? Very mindful, very trustworthy, very demure).

3) They Have Multiple Results
This might be a hot take but— has the SEO expert you're looking into ONLY had success with their own blog and content... and no one else? 😬
Imo, their process/strategy needs to be easily replicated for them to claim it “works.”
For example, these are screenshots from a variety of clients:
10K clicks for a home inspector blog
18K sessions for a dental website
3K clicks to a lawn care company
4) They'll Educate You
They’ll show you how SEO works without making it seem complicated AF (because it’s not).
For example, I’ve researched, used, AND experimented with every type of SEO: blogs, website copy, Pinterest, TikTok, Instagram, and more.
I share literally EVERYTHING I know and learn— to the point where people tell me my free content is better than SEO courses they paid for & even the SEO modules in their MASTER'S PROGRAMS!
(Can you tell I'm a little proud of that last one? 😅)
5) Your SEO strategist should show you what they’re doing (and why)
If you’re their client, your SEO person should show you what they’re doing and why.
For example, you’ll see how I gave my client (who hired me for SEO website copywriting services) a full video walkthrough of everything that was changed— it maaay have been over 20 minutes 😅
I also update my blog clients on my research process and give them quarterly goals with monthly updates!
6) Their Way Isn't The Only Way
If an SEO is telling you that you HAVE to focus on backlinks or you HAVE to post X times per month, they’re sharing what has worked for them.
Which is great! But if they tell you that you won’t see results without these things, I would give them the side eye. 😒
A good SEO will know their way isn't the only way and give you options based on your business model and bandwidth.
🚩 BONUS: My Major SEO Red Flag
If your SEO's main focus is buying backlinks... it's a red flag from me, dawg. 🚩
If you want backlinks (getting your name/business into well-known publications), hire a PR company, not an SEO expert.
Also, I would say that if their primary SEO strategy is backlinks, they’re offering you PR, not SEO.
Also, also! You can lose trust in their SEO skills if they promote keyword stuffing of any kind (especially on social media).
Wanna hire an SEO person you can trust? It’s me, hi 👋🏻
I’ve been doin’ this SEO thang since, idk… 2018?
I keep up with all the new stuff, like AEO, GEO, AIO, E, I, E, I, O. I won’t confuse you with the details (unless you want to go on a side quest and read them), it’s all bullshit.
It’s just SEO copywriting.
(because us SEO copywriters have always considered the human behind the search)
