SEO Copywriting vs Regular ol’ Copywriting: Here’s the REAL Difference
Not gonna lie...
I get *real* heated when I see people talking about SEO copywriting.
And so many of these lies come from COPYWRITERS!
I don't know where this idea that writing copy and creating content that can appear in search results because you have an extra layer of *strategy* started equating to "scam" but it LEGIT MAKES NO SENSE.
The lies you hear about SEO Copywriting
It focuses on the algorithm first, and humans second.
You can’t write good copy with SEO.
It’s a scam apparently?
What SEO Copywriting actually is…
SEO is a human-first approach, despite the name (don’t worry, i’ll explain more in a sec)
A good writer can easily write copy with an SEO strategy
Writing copy that helps people find answers is not— believe it or not— a scam?

SEO Copywriting vs Sales Copywriting: Here’s the REAL Difference
SEO copywriters start with keyword research because we know what your ideal client is searching for!
(so, putting human psycology/needs first)
Then, we pick a keyword based on ROI (clicks).
Then, we write sales copy for the ultimate ROI (clicks and sales).
The actual writing for SEO and sales copywriting is the exact same.
SEO copywriters use all the same tactics as sales copywriters:
Story
Persuasion
Emotions
Psychological triggers
We just offer and extra step (SEO) in your ideal clients’ buying process.
So… do you need SEO Copy?
No.
Do you need it if you don’ want to rely on social media alone to actually get people to your website or sales page?
100%.
'Cause here's the thing:
I don't have time to post social media content every week.
(Okay, I *could*, but I'd rather spend my time with friends, traveling, learning, or writing a book).
Which is why having my sales pages show up on Google relieves SO MUCH PRESSURE from having to post every damn day.
(and feeling that dreaded sense of being too "sales-y")
Plus, people who Google things like "social media manager for bakeries" or "content repurposing service" are actually MORE READY TO BUY than someone who stumbles across your social media post.
And while I love love LOVE the art of regular ol' copywriting, adding in an SEO strategy has helped my clients who don't have time/don't want to post on social media hit their revenue goals.
