Do people still read blogs?
You’ve heard it before, and you’ll hear it again: blogging is dead.
Except it’s not. And it never was.
Obviously, with the reach we get with social media, it’s natural to question, “Do people still read blogs?”
But of course they do.
You’re reading one right now!
No, but really, it’s a fair question. And you’re not the only one asking.

Even I — a blogger and SEO copywriter of 10 years— found myself wondering if blogs are reallyyyy the way to go.
But there are 3 reasons why I’ve kepta t it all these years:
I’ve gotten my clients 5K, 10K, and 100K website clicks pers month with 0 ads, 0 social media.
Those same clients end up marketing their business without social media at all.
People don’t want to watch your damn video.
Weren’t expecting that last one were you?
Do people still read blogs?
Yep, over 77% of internet users read blogs every single day!
Think about it: if most people weren’t or didn’t want to read blogs… ChatGPT wouldn’t be as popular as it is.
But why the hell would anyone go to a blog to get a protein chocolate chip cookie recipe when ChatGPT won’t bore me with the lore of someone’s great grandma fighting in WW2 made the recipe in between battles?
And TikTok videos actually show you the damn cookie?
But here’s when I personally prefer blogs over video or ChatGPT:
What kinda weirdos still read blogs?
The people who like to read blogs are the ones (like me) who absorb information best through written words
People like us devour articles, love a detailed how-tos, and would rather read instructions than watch a video.
People are actively ASKING for blog content to go WTIH YouTube videos and Podcasts:

People do still read blogs. But the format is changing
Big blocks of texts freak people out.
Like would you have read this far if the first half of my blog looked like this

Prolly not.
But it’s been common practice to use headings and keywords and to stop talking about your great grandma’s trek to …. for years now.
Here’s
Media: Notice how I include screenshots,
More bullet points
Conversational headings
Storytelling:
Less/no ads
Seo storytellers: learn how to create content with seo so you don’t have to post every day
To be fair, most people skim blogs.
You’re skimming this blog right now, aren’t you?!
No, it’s totally cool. I do it, too.
Actually, nowadays, I also skim carousel posts on Instagram and can’t watch a 2-minute TikTok video without holding it down to 2x the speed.
How sad is that? 😅
But regardless, I still take in the information (mostly. Sometimes… there’s a lot of information out there, okay?!).
That’s why blogs need to be skimmable and easily digestible. You can make blogs easier to read by:
Using H2 headings *which you need for SEO anyway)
Bolding certain words
Breaking the text up with RELATED links, graphics, videos, or social media posts
Using bullet points 👀
For example: this entire blog has all of those things. 😉
