Feeling stuck? Even after your third cup of coffee— still nothing? Well, you can breathe a sigh of caffeinated relief now because these blog writing prompts are going to be your saving grace.

Writer’s block is no joke. And it doesn’t matter how skilled of a writer you are; running low on creative writing ideas is super annoying, and can have you feeling like you’re not supposed to be a blogger after all.

Trust me, if you can relate, then you are definitely supposed to be a blogger.

So, let’s put those doubtful thoughts to rest, and dig into some of the best ways to banish writer’s block.

Blog prompts take care of some of the not-so-fun parts of blogging so that you can tap into that beautiful, creative mind of yours. Prompts are a great way to strengthen your writing skills and open yourself up to new blog ideas, too.

The key to getting the most out of blog writing prompts? Just start writing!

Yes, it’s that simple.

Before You Start Using Blog Writing Prompts…

Blog prompts can help rejuvenate your creativity just so you can put something out there.

They come in handy when you feel like you’re out of blog content ideas so that you remain consistent. The thing with most of those blog prompts you’ll find on Pinterest is that they’re usually a one-size-fits-all topic— and your blog needs to stand out, not blend in. Plus, you’re less likely to gain a dedicated readership if your blogs appear unplanned or random.

Don’t worry, I have a way around this!

But before you start using these blog prompts, take these steps to make sure they fit in with your brand.

Step 1: Know Your Niche

Your niche is the very specific definition of your business and the purpose of your blog. More than just a topic or category, a niche is what helps to define what makes your content different from all the others. A niche helps you pick out SEO keywords that can get you to the front page of Google and grow your readership.

For example, a travel blogger who writes about notable theme park food sounds specific, but it could be way more niche. Try something like: A travel blogger who writes about the vegan fare at Walt Disney World theme parks in Orlando, Florida.

Knowing your niche will help you to narrow down what sort of topics you should be writing about and where to look for blog writing prompts. If you’ve yet to declare your niche, working through a few prompts before publishing anything might push you in the direction that feels best.

Step 2: Stick to Relevant Blog Writing Prompts

Though it might be tempting to break away from your usual blogging habits, it’s important that the prompts you choose are relevant to the other content you’re publishing. Being consistent will build your audience’s trust and remind them that you’re an expert on your blog’s topic.

If you’re a small business owner, the blogging possibilities are endless. There are a number of topics a small business owner could (and should) include on their blog. A great starting point is to remember the value of divulging a few personal and industry-related secrets to your readers.

For example, 90% of Your Creative Content’s blog are How-To’s and content tips and tricks. But I make sure to include a few personal pieces so that my audience can get to know me.

Storytelling is the bread and butter of any type of marketing. So, make it personal and write about your life journey or how you decided to start your business – the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Then, you can give advice and tips about your industry to readers who may be considering getting into the business. Take note of industry trends, share your thoughts on what’s popular, or potentially start a new trend of your own!

Let’s use another example. A great blog writing prompt for a women’s fitness coach can be about gym selfies: what makes them popular, a coach’s take on the trend, and maybe end the blog with a few fun poses for selfies!

It might sound silly, but it’s just silly enough to get people reading!

If you’re really stuck, any blogger can write about fun monthly holidays, daily routines, and personal anecdotes. I personally like to use NationalToday.com.

That same women’s fitness coach could share a favorite recipe for a healthy treat on National Homemade Cookie Day (October 1st— I know you want to mark your calendar). Or she could reveal her nighttime routine for an evening before a hard day at the gym.

You can take your blog in whichever direction you choose: a personal story, a tutorial, or your insight on this new trend. I recommend using these niche holidays sparingly though— the core of your blog should be focused on what you have to say when you have something to say.

Step 3: Get Your Blog Ideas From Google

Break out the kitschy BFF bracelets and gift one to Google because search engines truly are your bestie when you’re feeling stuck.

If you’re struggling to find blog writing prompts, search a topic or a few keywords in Google. Let’s say you’re that women’s fitness coach and you’re been thinking about writing about “how to start a workout routine at home.” Then. scroll down to the bottom and check out the other related searches to spark a new writing idea.

This section is overlooked so much by bloggers. It’s my favorite trick for coming up with blog ideas. You never know: it may reveal a topic you haven’t covered yet

(Pssst… this is also a great way to find SEO keywords for your blogs).

This works better than using those blanket Pinterest blog prompts because you’re actively searching for a topic in your niche. And remember, there’s no shame in poking around other blogs to get a feel for the content they’re producing. If you’ve got a general idea of what to write about, reading over other posts will help you determine your blog’s angle and how you can put your personal spin on the topic.

By the way, did I mention that my membership, The Blogger’s Journal, is no match for writer’s block? You get new blog writing prompts (with SEO keywords) every single month. My members are always on top of your blogging game.

Maybe you should be passing the BFF bracelet over to me, instead? Just a thought!

But let’s move on to more blog writing prompts.
